With stores across the nation now opening to the public, many homeowners are looking to grocery stores to get their grocery shopping done.
And now, the Miami Gardens, Fla., neighborhood grocery store is set to open its doors to the general public.
On Monday, the store will open its first location in the Miami area, and will serve customers from 4 p.m. to 8 p.y. on Saturdays.
“The Miami Gardens neighborhood has been growing for years and this is the first new grocery shop we’ve opened in more than 10 years,” said Dan Stolzenberg, a vice president of marketing at Greenfield Markets, a Miami-based grocery chain.
The store will have a full line of fresh, frozen, packaged, frozen packaged and ready-to-eat foods, according to a press release.
“This is a first-of-its-kind grocery store,” Stolberg said.
“We want to be a neighborhood hub, not just a destination for a shopping experience.”
According to Stolzensberg, the grocery store will be located on the first floor of the home’s front lot, but the store’s entrance will be across the street.
With stores like this, Stolzin said, people will be able to easily go from the neighborhood’s traditional grocery store to the newer model, where they can find fresh produce, meats and seafood, organic produce, fresh baked goods and more. According to Greenfield Markets’ press release, the new location will be the first in Miami and is the first of its kind in Florida.
Stolzenowski said the store is also the first to open in a new location in a part of town that is known for its drug trafficking.
He said the new grocery stores, which will serve the local community, will be more than just a place to shop, but a place that allows residents to get out of their homes and into a fresh, fresh environment.
“We want the community to feel like they can come in and shop, so we have this concept that if you walk in and you have a cup of coffee, you can get a cup here, and if you want to eat, you’re not limited to just one type of food,” Stolszenowski told Miami New Times.
“The community is very supportive of our plan to be open to the community.”
This is the third grocery store in the U.S. to open to grocery shoppers.
In 2017, the Minneapolis-based Kroger opened its first grocery store, a 1,700-square-foot store on the corner of University and East College.
But the store opened in the fall of 2017 and has since expanded to nearly 1,000 square feet.
